University of Liverpool dental alumni
The Liverpool Dental Alumni Association is believed to be the oldest dental alumni associations in the country. Originally established as the Past Dental Students' Association in 1922 by Professor W H Gilmour, the third Dean of the Dental School and the first Professor of Dentistry in the UK.
Today, there are 1600 members, all of whom keep in touch with their dental school through an annual newsletter, reunion and dinner. There is also an annual Dental Staff/Student/Alumni Golf Competition, usually played at the Royal Birkdale. Our series of meetings and lectures contribute towards CPD, and the Society is planning a full programme of social and educational events over the coming year, for both past dental graduates and undergraduates alike.
The Association has a close relationship with the School of Dentistry, supporting its activities, particularly in the form of financial assistance through its investment portfolios. This very tangible level of support is used to contribute to the School’s research activities, and also to provide undergraduate prizes each year.
