Where your dental degree could take you...
Whilst most dental Graduates go into general practice there are other opportunities open to you, here and throughout the world. You could continue study or research at postgraduate level or train for specialisms, such as:-
- orthodontics
- restorative dentistry
- paediatric dentistry
- oral surgery
- special care dentistry
- oral medicine
These options take significant further study, but then in general practice you'll never stop learning. A fair number of our Graduates return to us for refresher courses, further study and continuous professional development.
Our Undergraduate courses are designed very much with the working dental professional in mind. Naturally we devote most time to clinical skills, but we also cover topics such as team work, time management and the business side.
Towards the end of your course you'll spend time working on placement in a general practice, providing treatment to paying patients and exploring what it takes to provide a quality service.
In your final year our careers service will help you find employment, whilst our staff will be very happy to explore postgraduate opportunities with you in the school or elsewhere.
