What you'll learn

The aim of this programme is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead effectively in dynamic healthcare environments across diverse global settings. For those completing the MSc in full, the course will enable students to:

  • Evaluate the interconnections between human, animal, and environmental health, assess global health challenges, and evaluate the effectiveness of healthcare delivery in humanitarian crises and public health interventions

  • Develop expertise in crisis management, applying theories and models to manage polycrises, enhance organizational resilience, and understand the roles of external stakeholders

Teaching and assessment

How you'll learn

Students on our Global Healthcare Management MSc will learn through a dynamic blend of interactive lectures, seminars, guest speakers, a fields trip and group work. Teaching is delivered by expert faculty from the Institute of Population Health, the School of Medicine, the triple-accredited Management School, and the Brett Centre for Entrepreneurship—offering a rich, interdisciplinary approach to healthcare management.

A key feature of the programme is a two-week, non-credit bearing industry placement at no additional cost. Students work in teams on a nano-project with a global industry partner—such as healthcare SMEs, NGOs, or start-ups—gaining invaluable real-world experience. While optional, participation is strongly encouraged.

The course combines a solid foundation in core areas with increasing opportunities for problem-solving and practical application. Optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to align with their career goals and prior experience.

Ongoing support is provided through online forums, discussion groups, live Q&As, and access to Canvas, our virtual learning environment.

Assessments are designed to reflect real-world challenges, preparing students for tasks they’ll face in professional healthcare and management roles. The programme uses a varied mix of coursework, including reports, learning logs, presentations, quizzes, problem analyses, and some traditional written exams—ensuring students develop a broad set of practical and analytical skills.

Our campus Career Studio is a space for students and graduates to drop into and talk to a career coach. Career coaches are highly trained to help no matter what stage you are at in your career planning. You can access support to find and apply for full-time and part-time roles, placements, internships and graduate schemes. Postgraduate entry requirements

Applicants will be expected to hold the equivalent of a UK 2.2 honours degree or above in a relevant subject area.

Clinical Intercalators are also accepted.

Students who hold professional work experience in a relevant area and/or other qualifications will be considered on a case by case basis.

International qualifications

Many countries have a different education system to that of the UK, meaning your qualifications may not meet our entry requirements. Completing your Foundation Certificate, such as that offered by the University of Liverpool International College, means you're guaranteed a place on your chosen course.


English language requirements

You'll need to demonstrate competence in the use of English language, unless you’re from a majority English speaking country.

We accept a variety of international language tests and country-specific qualifications.

International applicants who do not meet the minimum required standard of English language can complete one of our Pre-Sessional English courses to achieve the required level.
