Sam completed his MChem at the University of Sheffield in July 2019. His 4^th year project explored synthetic cross-membrane signal transducers under the supervision of Prof Nick Williams. During the summer between his 3^rd and 4^th year Sam took part in a summer project focusing on porous polymers for radioactive ion remediation in the Dawson group at Sheffield.

Sam’s PhD aims to synthesise porous materials for challenging separations under the supervision of Prof Andy Cooper and Dr John Ward.

Outside of Chemistry he enjoys climbing, jiu-jitsu and boardgames.
