Dr Louis Longley is an early career researcher in materials chemistry currently working in the autonomous chemistry laboratory as a research associate on the ERC Synergy Grant ‘Autonomous Discovery of Advanced Materials’. Prior to joining the Cooper Group, he completed his PhD in the department of Materials Science and Metallurgy at the University of Cambridge. His PhD, which was supervised by Doctor Thomas D. Bennett, focused on synthesis and characterisation of Metal-Organic framework glasses and allowed him to gain experience with a variety of experimental techniques including powder X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray total-scattering. During the PhD he had the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of other researchers including Prof. David Keen at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, and an extended collaboration with Prof. Lothar Wondraczek and Dr Courtney Calahoo at the University of Jena. He completed his undergraduate and master's degrees in Natural Science at the University of Cambridge.
