Overview

This comprehensive Welfare Benefits short course is designed for anyone aspiring to advance their careers in casework, including volunteers and professionals seeking a deeper understanding of the benefits system.

This course covers all essential aspects, including an overview of the benefit system, non-means-tested and means-tested benefits, Universal Credit, illness and the Work Capability Assessment, disability and benefits, housing benefits and costs, migrants' rights to benefits, rights to benefits of EU citizens post-Brexit, and other pertinent issues.

Our expert instructor will provide you with a solid foundation in welfare benefits, ensuring you gain the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complex landscape of social support. By the end of the course, you'll possess the confidence and expertise to make informed decisions and positively impact the lives of those in need.

Course Lecturer: Ruth Knox

Ruth is an experienced Welfare Rights Advisor, currently working with Vauxhall Law Centre. She has taught an Introduction to Welfare Rights course with the Continuing Education for over five years.
