Student profile: Liam Lowe

Why did you choose to study (insert name of course) at the University of Liverpool?

It’s an amazing university in a great city that I have visited numerous times in the past.  I visited the university once I had been given an offer and loved the course, especially the research focus of the degree, and loved meeting some of the students and the lecturers; all which were very passionate and interesting to listen to.

What do you enjoy most about the course, and why?

The research aspects, but also the modules and the relevance to contemporary issues.

Can you tell us about an exciting project you have completed on your course?

My dissertation research project, looking at the representation of gender and sexuality the representation in the video game Metroid.

What does Liverpool have to offer as a city?

Amazing restaurants, shops, art galleries and media hubs in general.

Can you tell us about the teaching methods/how your learning has been facilitated?

Hybrid learning; being a combination of online lectures and in-person seminars.

What extra-or co-curricular activities do you take part in, and how do these affect your student experience?

Art Society, which I am an events coordinator for, which allows me to both communicate with the committee and members.

What are your ambitions for the future and how will your experiences at the University of Liverpool help you in your future career?

I would love to do something in communications, marketing and social media. The university has given me the ability to research efficiently and professionally
