Promoting digital inclusion has never been more important. After the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions, so many aspects of our lives have shifted to a digital-by default model – work, leisure and entertainment, health, education and the ways in which we communicate with friends and family have become ever more mediated by digital technologies. Digital inequalities, however, remain persistently unresolved. Digital inequalities stem from gaps in material access to digital technologies, in the skills required to use them and in the ability take full advantage of the many benefits that come with using such technologies. These issues are complex and intertwined with other intersecting axes of social inequalities, including gender but also socio-economic status, age, ethnicity, disability and life experiences.

This IWD event is a morning of short online presentations by women working in the field of gender and digital inequalities, offering an opportunity to share knowledge, create and strengthen networks and raise awareness of gendered experiences of digital inequalities. The morning will reflect the diverse nature of these issues, with speakers from a range of organisations, perspectives and approaches, including both academic speakers and representatives of civil society organisations and NGOs. There will be time for Q & A and discussion with speakers.

All welcome!
