About

Personalised health enables the tailoring of treatments to the individual, giving people the choice and control over the way their care is planned and delivered, based on their needs. It considers genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors when designing treatment plans and preventive measures.

The University of Liverpool’s research in Personalised Health is world-leading, spanning a spectrum of therapeutics from production and delivery including cancer, pharmacology, nanotechnology, biomedical engineering, healthtech and digital. At the University of Liverpool, we aim to maximise the efficiency of medical treatment while improving patient quality of life. There is huge potential to add value to our research by engaging with the wider industry and academic community to co-create challenge-led research projects that benefit the wellbeing of patients and society.

Event aims

This workshop aims to develop solutions to personalised health-related problems by facilitating collaborative projects that develop new technologies and approaches that can inform diagnosis, treatment, and prevention strategies. The workshop is an opportunity to network and connect with people in academia and industry to share insights, discuss challenges and form collaborative projects leading to fully funded research projects. We are inviting academics from across all three faculties and external companies working in the area of new materials and approaches to making and using medicines with the aim to:

  1. Raise awareness of the University of Liverpool’s research in Personalised Health to academics and external stakeholders
  2. Align research activity with industry-led challenges, and identify overlaps with personalised health and other research activity across the University of Liverpool
  3. To initiate and shape funded projects between academics and external stakeholders
  4. Provide networking opportunities.

Format of the event

The workshop is led by Personalised Health Theme colleagues and will include introductions from the University of Liverpool’s research in Advanced Materials, Infectious Diseases and Starting Well Living Well Aging Well and insights from some of University’s strategic partners working in Health domains. The workshop includes breakout sessions shaped by questions posed by attendees, which will provide an opportunity to talk through key challenges in industry and how collaborative research can address these. The workshop will close with a summary of funded opportunities followed by a networking lunch.
