Personal View

I have had a great first year at university studying Chemistry, living in student accommodation and being supported by Student Support Services.

I chose to come to the University of Liverpool and study chemistry not only because of the reputation the university has, but also because of the facilities available for undergraduates within the central teaching labs. In addition, both my parents were students here and had positives things to say.

I was lucky enough to get a place in the new university accommodation, at Crown Place, which is on campus and only two minutes walk from the Chemistry building! Living in the university accommodation has given me the opportunity to meet lots of new people.

Student Support Services and the Chemistry department have offered me excellent support; both departments have liaised very closely with each other to ensure that I have received an appropriate level of support to enable me to feel settled and to make the most of the opportunities available to me. In addition, lecturers and other members of staff are always there and happy to help with any problem however big or small.

Having grown up on the Wirral, which is local to Liverpool, I’ve been aware of the lively nature of the city and have continued to make use of the huge number of events and places there are to visit.

Overall my first year of university has been great, the department have helped me settle into university life and made what felt like a scary move not so scary. I am very glad that I chose to study chemistry at the University of Liverpool.
