Musical Memories: Made In Liverpool

As the city of Liverpool emerges from lockdown and as we enter the final months of our fundraising campaign, our special online event celebrated the opening of the University of Liverpool’s new Yoko Ono Lennon Centre in Spring 2022.

Our exclusive fundraising event was hosted by Richard Hartwell, Artistic Director to the Tung Auditorium, with special guests, Campaign Ambassadors and local Arts patrons Robin Bloxsidge and Nick Riddle. The theme for the event was ‘musical memories’ and Richard led Robin and Nick in a discussion about their favourite musical memories as well as looked forward to the new programme at the Tung.

The event also included some first-class musical interludes, with a performance by Lunchtime Concert favourites and University of Liverpool alumni Harbottle and Jonas, as well as a special announcement from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic’s Ensemble 10/10 who will make the Tung Auditorium their new home from spring 2022.

We also shared more updates about the new Yoko Ono Lennon Centre, the University’s new state-of-the-art teaching and performance facility that will provide students with the opportunity to perform and learn about all aspects of the music industry as well as contribute to Liverpool’s world-renowned music scene.

We’re now only £250,000 away from our fundraising target and our ‘Musical Memories’ event is asking for your help to get us over the line. At a time when the Arts are struggling with the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, support for our venues, artists and performers has never been more vital.

To make a gift of any size to support the Yoko Ono Lennon Centre, please visit our JustGiving page, or, for a minimum gift of £250, you can name one of the 400 seats within the Tung Auditorium.
