From Liverpool With Love

Find out more about our Yoko Ono Lennon Centre and how you can help support this new state-of-the-art venue for Liverpool

Our recent event saw a panel of distinguished speakers including Professor Catherine Tackley, Head of Music, Dr Holly Tessler, Lecturer and Beatles expert, and Vanessa Reed, CEO and President of New Music USA, and Campaign Ambassador, discussing a range of subjects including the influence of The Beatles in the US, the importance of diversity in the music industry, to the enduring legacy of Liverpool as a UNESCO City of Music.

Proceedings were ably hosted by former BBC Radio Merseyside broadcaster Roger Phillips and music was provided at the event by pianist and University tutor Tom Kimmance, who performed some special arrangements of Beatles classics.

The event was an opportunity to share more details about the new Yoko Ono Lennon Centre, the University of Liverpool’s new state-of-the-art teaching and performance facility. The new venue will enhance Liverpool’s world-renowned music scene and provide students with the opportunity to perform and learn about all aspects of the music industry from organising live performances and artist liaison, to programming and technical aspects.

We’re two-thirds of the way towards our fundraising target but we still need your help to get us over the line. At a time when the Arts are struggling with the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, support for our venues, artists and performers has never been more vital.
