The Liverpool Literary Festival Presents: A Women's History of the Beatles

Join us for the first in a series of ‘Liverpool Literary Festival presents’ events as we welcome Dr Christine Feldman-Barrett, author of A Women’s History of the Beatles, in conversation with Dr Holly Tessler, Lecturer and Beatles expert, to explore how the iconic Liverpool band have shaped, and have been shaped by, the women in their lives.

Dr Feldman-Barrett, a Senior Lecturer in the School of Humanities, Languages and Social Science at Griffith University, Australia, will discuss the Beatles’ social and cultural impact as understood through the experiences and lives of women, exploring the various and multi-faceted relationships women have had with the band: from the fans at the height of Beatlemania; to the wives and girlfriends, and to a re-examination of key female figures in the group’s history.

The event will mark International Women’s Day 2021 and celebrates the launch of the Department of Music’s new MA in the Beatles. It also continues our Yoko Series of events as we count down to the opening of the University’s Yoko Ono Lennon Centre later this year.
