Amongst Liverpool’s many theatres, the Liverpool Playhouse stages premieres by both local and international writers.

The Liverpool Empire is home to many popular touring West End productions including The Lion King, Wicked and Mamma Mia!

Liverpool Everyman Theatre features a 400 seat auditorium. It won three awards in 2018 alone, including ‘Culture & Tourism Business of the Year’ in the MIB awards.

For a more intimate venue, Unity Theatre hosts professional and local theatre, with its focus being on diversity and inclusion of performers and visitors.

On the big screen

You can take a trip to FACT, a four screen cinema that shows both mainstream and smaller-scale films, or enjoy the comfy sofas at the boutique Everyman Cinema.

Or, grab your picnic blanket to watch a film under the stars at Aintree Racecourse or Speke Hall, just two of the many outdoor cinemas popping up across the city.

The Royal Albert Dock also hosts a floating cinema!
