Sport

Liverpool is well known for its love for football. Home to two of the Premiership’s biggest football teams, both Liverpool and Everton Football Clubs are a mile or so from the city centre.

When it comes to big games, bars and pubs all over Liverpool offer the chance to watch on cinema style screens.

Bars include McCooley’s, Bierkeller, and on Smithdown Road, The Brookhouse. Arrive early though, as places fill up quickly!

Other sports

Besides football, Aintree Racecourse is home to the Grand National, as well as the very popular Ladies Day.

There is county cricket at Liverpool Cricket Club, golf on “England’s Golf Coast” at Royal Birkdale and the Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake (Wirral).

Liverpool also has a Rugby League at St Helens and Widnes, and ample opportunities for watersports.

If you want to try something different, relieve some stress or just learn a new skill, check out Liverpool Roller Birds. They’re Liverpool’s first and only women's roller derby team!
