This one-day course, which is accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of England, is aimed at medics, surgeons and laboratory staff interested in medical research. The morning session introduces the audience to medical statistics providing basic theory and practical examples on exploratory data analysis, statistical inference, survival analysis, diagnostic tests, systematic review and meta-analysis, clinical trials. The course continues presenting useful information and advises on how to set up a clinical study and how to read a medical paper. The day ends with discussion on selected published papers.
