Support grows for SAVSNET at BSAVA Congress 2013

Published on

The Small Animal Veterinary Surveillance Network had its first-ever stand at the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) Congress 2013, the largest small animal exhibition in the world. There was a constant flow of visitors to the stand to experience the demo version of the SAVSNET system and to talk to members of the team. Professor Susan Dawson, Dr Phil Jones, Dr P-J Noble and Dr Alan Radford of the University of Liverpool all manned the stand, together with SAVSNET core team members: Suzanna Reynolds, Tarek Menacere and Fernando Sánchez-Vizcaíno.

Most visitors were aware of SAVSNET and were keen to know more about how SAVSNET data collection works and about the SAVSNET aims and objectives. They went away with words of support and encouragement – some even went straight to their practice management software (PMS) providers requesting that their software be made SAVSNET-compliant! During the Congress, SAVSNET entered into an agreement with VetSolutions, the makers of RoboVet software (one of the market-leaders), to develop and test standard software tools. Importantly, these tools will subsequently be made freely available to all PMS providers to make their own software SAVSNET-compliant. Robovet users will be the first to hear from SAVSNET asking them to take part but there was also overwhelming interest from other PMS providers so – watch this space!
