We are delighted to say that veterinary practices running Teleos practice management software will soon be able to join the Small Animal Veterinary Surveillance Network.  Teleos have prioritized this development work and expect to integrate the SAVSNET feature into Teleos software by September. ‘Teleos is pleased to be supporting this very important project which will undoubtedly lead to better client education and patient care’  Jon Hewitt, Teleos MD. The veterinary practices that sign up to SAVSNET will be contributing data to a system of active and passive disease surveillance for pets, which will benefit the UK's pets by telling us which diseases are present where in the UK and at what levels. They will be joining over a hundred clinics currently in the project, some of whom have been contributing data continuously over the last two years. Data will be analysed by researchers to understand more about pet disease, current projects include looking at gastrointestinal disease and respiratory disease, but many more studies are in the pipeline. These analyses will show risk factors for disease- including breed factors- and will contribute to the growing knowledge in this area.

Practices joining will also soon benefit from a personal benchmarking site, where they can compare aspects of their clinical work to their anonymous peers. We will also be able to look at practice based evidence for treatment success and this will contribute to keeping pets healthy and to better treatment when they are sick. Teleos is an innovative, specialist practice management software company based in the iconic Fort Dunlop in Birmingham. The company offers one software program and is continuously developing it for their numerous clients, enabling all users to access the latest features- including SAVSNET when it is available in September.
