SAVSNET has always aimed to monitor clinical data in real-time in order to identify trends that might indicate outbreaks of infectious disease or an occurrence of new diseases in pet populations in a timely manner. For some time we have been collecting data from veterinary practices immediately on completion of each veterinary consult and data from laboratories are collected either daily, monthly or quarterly depending on the laboratory involved. Now, for the first time, we are able to analyse and post some of these results on the SAVSNET real-time page. These charts provide a novel insight into the diagnosis of disease across the UK in cats and dogs, and allow us to monitor important syndromes over time . Over time, these data will build into a comprehensive picture of real-time pet health, and allow SAVSNET to spot important changes in disease profiles that may point to emerging outbreaks.
