PGR Development Group (PDG)

The PGR Development Group (PDG) is a community-owned and peer-led initiative, run on a voluntary basis by PGRs for PGRs.

The PDG brings together PGRs from across all faculties, forming a supportive and inclusive community that provides opportunities for personal and professional development. We also aim to foster connections among PGRs and act as a PGR voice within the University of Liverpool.

Upon registration of their doctoral studies, all PGRs automatically become members of the PDG.

We are run by the PDG committee, which is made up of PGRs from various schools and departments. Find out more about Who we are

If you’d like to know more about what being on the PDG committee entails and to get involved, we invite you to Join us and to learn more about How we work.

What we do

We work together to organise a range of development events and opportunities tailored to the diverse needs of the University of Liverpool’s vibrant PGR community. We run monthly Coffee & Connect meet-ups, monthly Lunch & Learn sessions, and a termly Networking event. See What’s on

We also send out a regular E-bulletin to all PGRs that communicates development opportunities. If you have any development opportunities that you’d like PGRs to know about, email us here: pdg@liverpool.ac.uk

Our work is supported by The Academy, the University of Liverpool’s Centre for people and practice development. We meet regularly with researcher developers from The Academy to ensure that the University of Liverpool’s PGR Development Programme meets the evolving needs of all our PGRs.

Full details of the PGR Development Programme can be found at the PGR Development Hub. We encourage all PGRs to browse the PGR Development Hub, where you can find out more about in-person workshops, webinars, online modules, practice-based sessions, and self-paced resources tailored to PGRs at every stage of the research journey. You will also find a host of downloadable resources.
