Future developments and improvements to particle accelerators depend on the detailed understanding of the properties and behavior of the particle beam. The design of a new accelerator or beam line starts with beam dynamics studies. The QUASAR Group has designed a number of accelerators, storage rings and beam lines, and continues to work on the design of future facilities for fundamental research and various applications.
The Group is active in the following R&D areas:
- Beam lifetime studies
- Beam tracking
- Beam emission studies
- Code development
- Advanced optics concepts for HLLHC
Part of these activities are carried out within the EU project BeaPhy.
