Whether helping to maintain the garden and plant collections, supporting our education team or making sure our visitors have a great day out, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
Recruitment is carried out when placements become available. We aim to provide the right placement for each volunteer and provide opportunities for a diverse range of people.

Education practical support volunteer
Our Learning and Engagement team run a range of family activities and events throughout the year. An education practical support volunteer will help with the set up and preparation of these events. If you are interested in carpentry, happy to work at height and enjoy practical tasks outdoors this could be the volunteer opportunity for you.
Family event volunteer
Enjoy chatting to people, this could be the role for you! Our Events Volunteers engage with families while they visit Ness during events and support them with the family activities.
Little acorns volunteer
Little acorns is an outdoor session for pre-schoolers. Volunteers assist in the delivery of these sessions, interacting with families, setting up and putting away resources, reading stories and leading nursey rhyme songs.

Heritage Project Volunteer
Are you interested in local history and heritage this might be the project for you. We are looking for a heritage volunteer to work on a project to capture memories and stories from all of those who have visited or been linked to the gardens.
