Research Overview

Daniel’s current research center’s on the central role of technical assistance in the constitutionalization of intellectual property norms in the Global South (with a specific focus on Africa at the moment). Broadly, Daniel's research interest lies in the areas of European and international intellectual property law and policy, intellectual property and development issues, Third World Approaches to International Law (TWAIL) (colonialism, decolonization, postcolonialism), issues of global justice (such as access to medicines and knowledge), and state failure.

Concerning intellectual property, he has particular interest in the areas of patents, patents and pharmaceuticals, geographical indications, plant variety protection, traditional knowledge, and copyright.
