Prof Sally Sheard has obtained a Wellcome Trust enhancement award of £92,529 to develop her existing project 'The Governance of Health: medical, economic and managerial expertise in Britain since 1948' (2015-2020). This award will fund a third postdoctoral researcher for two years. Michael Lambert will take up the position on 1 July 2017. Michael graduated from the University of Liverpool with a first class degree in Modern History and Politics in 2008.

Sally has also appointed a postdoctoral researcher to work with her for 18 months on a history of the National Institute for Health Research. Paul Atkinson, who started on 1 February (NIHR-funded), is a fellow historian, previously at the University of Lancaster. He also worked for twenty years as a Department of Health Civil Servant.
