Faculty launches fundraising drive for Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences has launched a new 2024 fundraising campaign in support of the Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity.

Staff and students are aiming to raise £10,000 for the charity's Bereavement Suite Appeal, which aims to transform clinical rooms into comforting, home-like spaces for families who have sadly experienced a pregnancy loss or stillbirth.

Exciting events being planned include a Faculty Bake Off competition in May, a Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge event in June and a Sports Day in autumn, with plenty more to come!

Cath McNamara, Head of Postgraduate Affairs and International Partnerships and a lead member of the campaign organising committee, said: "We're encouraging all staff and students across the Faculty to get involved in whatever way they can, no matter how big or small. We want people to join us and have some fun, all while raising money for a fantastic local appeal that will really benefit those families that need it. Together, as #TeamFHLS, we can really make a difference!”

Professor Louise Kenny, Executive Pro-Vice-Chancellor for the Faculty, added: “We are delighted to support Liverpool Women’s Hospital as our charity partner this year. LWH provide critical services for women and babies from across Liverpool and beyond. They are with families on the best day of their lives and sadly sometimes on the worst day. We want to do all we can to ensure they have the best possible space to continue to provide the world-class care they are famous for.”
