Aeroelasticity

Our overall aim is to make CFD a viable option to contribute the aerodynamics to an industrial flutter analysis. A number of benefits associated with risk reduction, cost reduction and design optimisation can be gained by including aerodynamic nonlinearity. Our efforts started in 1996 with the prediction of aerofoils in pitch and plunge. Subsequent development have led us to LCO response prediction using systematic model reduction. Two research highlights are the development of the CVT Transformation and the Bifurcation fast flutter method.
