Thesis Title: 'Editing the Little Review: Queers, Cartoons, Conflict and Conversation'.

Research Interests: Rio’s PhD research bridges the fields of modernism, periodical studies, and feminist/queer theory. She serves on the committee for the European Society of Periodical Studies, and the organising committee of the Queer Modernism(s) Conference, most recently held at the University of Oxford in April 2018, and due to take place again in April 2019. Rio is the Post Graduate Representative for the Department of English.
Publications: Rio has published reviews for the James Joyce Quarterly, Poetry Review, and the Journal of European Periodical Studies.
