Personal Statement

Before moving to Liverpool, Hannah worked at the Science Communication Unit at UWE Bristol where she was a Senior Lecturer in Science Communication for 4 years, and also a Data Fellow at the South West Creative Technology Network. Previously, she did her PhD in the field of evolutionary linguistics at the Artificial Intelligence Lab at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium, and went on to a postdoc at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in the Netherlands. She has published work in linguistics, research methods and science communication. She's on the board of directors for Open Rights Group, a digital rights advocacy organisation in the UK and also a member of the UK SETI Research Network and the SETI Post Detection Hub hosted at the University of St Andrews. In her spare time does stand-up comedy, and is writing a popular science book about linguistics and aliens.
