Dr Gianfranco Polizzi works in the Department of Communication and Media as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. He is currently working on the Developing a Minimum Digital Living Standard project as well as on a number of related projects. Gianfranco has a PhD (fully funded by ESRC) from the London School of Economics and has held research positions both at the University of East Anglia and at the University of Birmingham. His academic interests include digital literacy, digital resilience, cyber-wisdom, digital citizenship, and digital inequalities. Gianfranco’s research has been published in academic journals including, but not limited to, New Media & Society, Computers & Education, and Ethics and Information Technology. Currently, Gianfranco is also co-leading the evaluation of the second iteration of NewsWise (i.e., a school intervention aimed at equipping primary school children in the UK with news and digital literacy skills). This project is funded by the Nuffield Foundation.
