George Cogzell, Policy Adviser for British Holiday and Home Parks Association

I thoroughly enjoyed studying Media and Politics for my master’s at the University of Liverpool. The course gave a fantastic insight into the political media landscape of the UK, which is invaluable for working in public affairs. The array of modules available really allowed me to make the most of what the university could offer, whilst the city of Liverpool itself only added to the experience.

My dissertation focused on the role of music in political social media campaigning, something that is not only interesting but highly relevant to the changing landscape of political campaigning. I’m grateful for the role my lecturers had in supporting this dissertation, as the team in the Department of Communications and Media were fantastic!

I now work for a national trade association (British Holiday and Home Parks Association) as a Policy Adviser. My role involves meeting MPs, industry stakeholders and lobbying government. The skills and knowledge that I obtained throughout my master’s degree were crucial in helping me work within the sector.
