Data analysis

In collaboration with the University’s Computational Biology Facility, work is in progress to develop a biobank information system.

It will comprise a web-interface and backend database for visualisation and analysis of clinical and omics data. Data integration will be served by a user-friendly interface that will meet the requirements of data scientists, clinical researchers and laboratory scientists.

Queries can be made at several levels, from experimental program summary, through categorical and continuous patient metadata and outcomes, down to individual measurements. At all levels of query, the site will provide the appropriate labelled visualisations. The output will range from analysis of the clinical cohort, such as identification of clinical subgroups, with aggregated summary tables, line and bar charts and boxplots of quantitative data.

More complex analysis and visualisations will include clustering techniques, such as heatmaps, PCA, t-SNE and UMAP. Where applicable, all visualisations will be interactive allowing the user to identify data points, zoom into areas of interest, and click through for further information. All figures will be downloadable.
