I Got Hired: Psychology Teacher

Jaime Campfield is a Class of 2022 Psychology graduate, who is now working as a Psychology Teacher at Liverpool Life Sciences UTC.

I have always wanted to be a teacher and immediately after completing my undergraduate degree I studied for a PGCE in Secondary Education at Edge Hill University.

My favourite experience since graduation has been becoming ‘Miss Campfield’.

It has been the biggest achievement of my life so far to become a teacher. Coming from a disadvantaged background, only 26% of students like myself make it to University.

My education and the amazing teachers I had shaped the person I am today. They enabled me to explore possibilities I never thought possible and I now aim to do this every day for my students. Every day I am learning and developing as a teacher and as a result I am loving my profession and my workplace.

My best advice is to start exploring possibilities early on. Look to work with charities and organisations and gain experience. I volunteered with Reach Out while at University, where I tutored primary school pupils every week in maths and English.

This will inform your interests and career decisions and is the best way of gaining meaningful experience in any field of work.
