I Got Hired: Events Technician at Blue Elephant UK

Jamie Harris is a Class of 2022 Music and Technology graduate, now working as an Events Technician at Blue Elephant UK.
I came across this graduate role in events on Linkedin while in the final year of my university course.
I started out as a Junior Technician, and after a few months was promoted to Technician. In this role I have been doing sound engineering in all sorts of events and venues across london and other parts of the UK.
My favourite experienceso far was being part of Stormzy’s album release party. We did the technical production for the event, with projections and soundscape in the experience space, and a live events space where he performed.
It has been great to work with and for some amazing people and names, and work in some incredible and unique venues.
My top 3 tips for current students and recent graduates:
- Look early for jobs and don’t give up with it if it doesn’t come straight away
- Be flexible
- Be willing to learn
