School of the Arts Year 9 Taster Day
Anniken Jensen (PG Intern with the Marketing, Recruitment and Events Team) and Helen Thomas (MRE Team) worked with colleagues in Widening Participation and Outreach to host a School of the Arts Taster Day for Year 9 students from five schools across the region on 27 June 2019.

PhD students Roberto Cruz Juarez (Architecture), Christopher McMahon and Rhys Jones (Communication and Media Studies), Hannah Berry (English), Taran Harris (Music) and Zishan Khawaja (Philosophy) ran highly interactive workshops which encouraged practical engagement and discussion with all five disciplines.
Pupils got to propose architectural solutions using LEGO, discuss the pros and cons of social media, make up and translate their own languages, experience and discuss the software manipulation of vocals, and debate 'The Ship of Theseus'.
