Who pays for my tuition fees in a Degree Apprenticeship?

Degree Apprenticeships are funded by your employer via their Apprenticeship Levy or in the case of smaller employers, by the co-investment model. Apprentices do not pay tuition fees.

Am I eligible to become a Degree Apprentice?

Just like any other student, you’ll need to meet the entry requirements for the course related to your career, you can find out about entry requirements from the courses page. You’ll need to be in paid employment with an employer who is willing to support your apprenticeship. 

Is there an age limit on Degree Apprenticeships?

Degree Apprenticeships are open to anyone over the age of 16 so whether you are a school leaver or an existing employee in a company which is willing to sponsor you, you can become a Degree Apprentice.

How can I be sure I will learn the skills and knowledge relevant to my career goals?

Research and innovation are at the heart of the University's courses so you can be sure that you’ll receive up-to-date skills and knowledge relevant to the sector you’ll be working in. Employers will collaborate with the University of Liverpool in the programme design and delivery to ensure the learning is tailored to the industry.

What courses can I study on a Degree Apprenticeship?

We currently offer the MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner programme.

How much time will I spend at work and at university?

You’ll spend 80% of your time in your workplace (at least 30 hours per week) and 20% of your time studying at the University of Liverpool.

How long does an apprenticeship take to complete?

Your degree will take two years to complete. You'll also need to undertake an end-point assessment.

Will I receive a wage as a Degree Apprentice?

Yes, you’ll receive a wage, holiday pay, pension and any other benefits that your employer provides.

Will I be able to take part in student life at the University of Liverpool?

Just like any other student at the University of Liverpool, you’ll be able to engage in all aspects of student life. You can join a sports team or student group. Make use of our modern facilities, libraries and social spaces. Get study support or well-being and financial advice. Take advantage of student opportunities including free offers and discounts to fitness centres, theatres, galleries and events.

Will my employer pay towards other costs associated with my degree?

Your employer will cover your tuition fees only (via their levy funds or through the co-investment model). Your employer is not obliged to pay towards any other costs.
