Student success at Young Enterprise North West Finals
Two teams of Psychology students took part in the Young Enterprise North West Finals in Manchester on Wednesday 21 February.
Students had previously set up companies as part of the Young Enterprise Start Up Programme, which gives university students the opportunity to develop employability skills and prepare for the world of work, by setting up and running their own student company for up to 12 months.
As part of the programme, two student business teams called Sideline Stream and Journey Juice, pitched their companies at the Young Enterprise North West Finals.
Sideline Stream will compete in the Young Enterprise National Finals on Wednesday 15 May
Sideline Stream want to stream University sports games to a wider audience, allowing friends, family, supporters and talent scouts to see the amazing sports games we have. Their aim is to not only bring games to a wider audience, but to provide support and training to students, enabling them to gain valuable experience in all steps of the screening process such as filming, commentating and training.
Following their pitch, Sideline Stream won both the Export Award and a place in the Young Enterprise National Finals on Wednesday 15 May.
Fellow Psychology student team Journey Juice also competed in the Young Enterprise North West Finals.

Journey Juice's three aims were to be climate-friendly, cost-effective and to provide convenience, by creating a collapsible water bottle for students, which can be stored in a pocket or a bag after use. The bottle collapses to less than 3cm.
The team delivered a brilliant pitch on the day, but sadly lost out on a place in the Young Enterprise National Finals.
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate both Sideline Stream and Journey Juice on their fantastic performances and pitches on the day, as well as their hard work and dedication throughout the programme.
Department of Psychology Lecturer Dr Caroline Hands said: "All six teams from this year's module had fantastic ideas and I would have taken them all to the final if I could. Journey Juice were just pipped at the post by another cup.
"Sideline Stream have a fantastic and unique idea, which has the possibility to be taken up globally. I am incredibly proud of how well they worked as a team and developed their product from an initial idea to a fully formed business idea that impressed the judges, and could potentially become the UK's entry for a Young Enterprise Business in the European Finals."
