The British Science Association (BSA) has announced that the University’s Professor Rachel Bearon will become the Mathematical Sciences Section President for 2022.

Each year, the BSA Sections nominate an individual who has made a significant contribution to their scientific field for Presidency of the Section.

Professor Bearon is Head of the University’s Department of Mathematical Sciences and a specialist in the field of mathematical biology.

As Mathematical Sciences Section President she will help to develop the programme for this year’s British Science Festival in September as well as give a lecture on her research.

The British Science Festival is Europe’s longest standing science Festival, connecting people with scientists, engineers, technologists and social scientists.

This year it will be hosted by De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) and take place between Tuesday 13 and Saturday 17 September 2022 with an inspiring programme of events spanning a diverse range of scientific subjects.
