Summary
Much of my research has been conducted through collaboration with scholars based at universities in the UK and overseas, and through partnership with a wide range of non-academic groups and organisations, including museums and galleries, governing bodies and heritage managers, film and media companies, music businesses and associations.
I am editorial board member for five international, peer-reviewed journals, and have also served as a member of the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council College and the Institute of Musical Research advisory board, and as advisor for various research projects and centres. Other external appointments have included Visiting Professorships at universities overseas, external examining appointments across a range of disciplines and universities, and working as General Secretary of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music.
I have engaged external organisations in training and development initiatives related to my research, working with commercial music companies to deliver music business and training courses, music industry seminars and conventions, and acting as a founding partner for the Merseyside Music Development Agency.
