LAMBDA workshop gives insight into impact of Data Science and AI on business disciplines

Hosted by LAMBDA (Liverpool Advanced Methods for Big Data Analytics Research Cluster) at the University of Liverpool Management School, the "Data Science, AI, and Social Science" workshop aimed to explore how cutting-edge AI technologies are impacting business disciplines.

Keynote speakers included:

  • Christopher Mues (Professor of Data Science and Info Systems, Southampton University)
  • Simon Rudkin (Senior Lecturer in Data Science, Social Statistics, University of Manchester)
  • Francisco Rowe (Professor in Population Data Science, University of Liverpool School of Environmental Sciences)  
  • Slava Jankin (Chair in Data Science and Government and Director of the Centre for the Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Government (CAIG) at the University of Birmingham).

The workshop received overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants. Attendees praised the workshop for its comprehensive coverage of the intersection between data science, artificial intelligence, and social science, highlighting its relevance in today's rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Abderrahim Taamouti, the director of the LAMBDA cluster, expressed his satisfaction with the event, stating: "The enthusiastic participation and engagement from attendees truly showcased the growing importance of bridging data science with social science. The diverse range of topics covered resonated well with participants, fostering a dynamic learning environment."

The workshop's success was further underscored by its practical approach, with participants commending the hands-on sessions and real-world applications discussed. Overall, the positive feedback reflects the workshop's effectiveness in promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and advancing knowledge at the intersection of data science, AI, and social science.
