MSc Operations and Supply Chain students visit Peel Ports Group Port of Liverpool

MSc Operations and Supply Chain Management  students recently visited the Peel Ports Group Port of Liverpool on Friday 28 July.

The Peel Ports Group is one of the world's leading ports at the cutting edge of the global logistics industry as the Port of Liverpool operates two container terminals.

The Royal Seaforth Container Terminal which is the Port of Liverpool’s longest servicing container terminal and Liverpool2 is a £400m deep sea terminal that is one of the most modern and operationally efficient in Northern Europe, capable of accommodating the world's largest container vessels.

During their visit, the MSc Operations and Supply Chain students were given insight into the various operations and services offered by the Port of Liverpool, in particular the extensive warehousing options available to businesses of all sizes.

The group were shown the various transportation options used to move goods and containers around the port and were even given a demonstration on the loading and unloading of a container as it was moved around the port.

At the end of the tour, students were also given the opportunity to ask questions to Peel's Head of Supply Chain James Riddick, who gave them great insight into the extensive logistical and supply chain operations that are conducted on a daily basis by employees at the port.
