Dr Jo Meehan and Dr Bruce Pinnington have received the 'Best research paper with managerial implications' at the 2019 IPSERA conference which took place in Milan.

The award was given for their paper entitled: “Modern slavery in asymmetric supply chains: Power plays through strategic ambiguity” which has been carried out in partnership with the UK Government’s Crown Commercial Service.  The award keeps up the team’s winning streak as Jo, Bruce, and Laura Menzies have won five ‘best paper’ awards between them at the last four IPSERA conferences, setting a new record in the conference’s history.

The International Purchasing and Supply Education and Research Association (IPSERA) is a multi-disciplinary network of academics and practitioners dedicated to the development of knowledge concerning Purchasing and Supply Management.  Its annual conference provides an opportunity for academics and researchers to present their studies in the field and discuss future developments.

This year’s conference reflected the two sides of procurement; the use of science, technology, analytical skills and quantities methods but also of creativity and soft skills.
