An update from the School Director

As Director of the Management School, Professor Julia Balogun would like to share some updates around the activity and developments taking place at the University of Liverpool Management School.  Over the last 12 months, the School has implemented some exciting developments across its portfolio of programmes, helping us to advance the School’s mission, “to be a globally connected Management School whose transformative research and teaching places us at the forefront of influential knowledge leadership. This brings us together with students, business and society in learning to make a difference”.

Our Master in Management and Sports Business MSc programmes will launch this September and bring together the best industry-led research and innovative teaching. We strive to ensure that our graduates are best placed in a competitive job market.

We are delighted that our Management MSc has been recognised for the first time in the 2017 Economist’s Which MBA? Masters in Management ranking and our MSc Finance recently became our second programme to achieve recognition status by the Charted Finance Analyst Institute (CFA) alongside MSc Finance and Investment Management which is taught in our London campus.

To reflect ongoing developments within ULMS, we have created new academic posts which include Director of Student Experience (Claire Mallanaphy) and Associate Head international (Professor Terry McNulty) who is driving our internationalisation strategy. We have appointed globally-recognised professors as Subject Group Heads for our Strategy, International Business and Entrepreneurship group (SIBE) and the Work, Organization and Management group (WOM).

ULMS is proud of its vast and growing alumni network and to recognise this, we have recently appointed a dedicated Undergraduate Alumni Relations Officer, Laura Hill. Laura is working closely to enhance our relationship working with Undergraduate Alumni.

We are delighted to that the Management School has been awarded Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Graduate Gateway status against BA Marketing and BA Marketing with a Year in Industry. The Management School has joined forces with CIM to give students the opportunity to gain CIM professional qualifications through their Multi Award Pathway (MAP).

Our undergraduate students have the opportunity to attend extracurricular ULMS extra sessions which often welcome back alumni to campus. Students gain a lot from hearing about the experiences and the career progression of our alumni and your advice to them is invaluable.

There are a number of ways which you can get involved, including volunteering as a mentor or guest speaker. For more information on the opportunities available, please email Alumni Relations Manager, Jayne Murphy at: jayne.murphy@liverpool.ac.uk.

I hope that you can be a part of the continuing success of ULMS.

Best wishes,

Professor Julia Balogun

Director of the University of Liverpool Management School
