Thomas Ackernley

Thomas Ackernley obtained an M. Phys. in Theoretical Physics in 2018 from the University of St. Andrews. His dissertation was titled ‘Understanding Environmental Memory in Coupled Open Quantum Systems’.

Thomas’s interest in the middle ground between theoretical and experimental physics led to him recently joining LIVDAT and the University of Liverpool as a PhD student. His PhD project involves studies incorporating Deep learning with the LHCb detector. Thomas is currently evaluating simulation data with regard to future upgrades of the LHCb and is also looking forward to furthering his research with a placement at FBK.
