Research Overview

My research primarily focuses on food security and food safety challenges related to animal source foods (ASFs) in Ethiopia. I am interested in developing effective interventions to drive positive child nutritional outcomes through safe ASF consumption.

I am the PI for a USAID funded project on: Improving smallholder poultry production and egg consumption in children under two in Ethiopia

I seek to further understand and mitigate potential risks associated with unsafe ASFs, and the linkages between animal ownership, ASF consumption, the gut microbiome, and its association with Environmental Enteric Dysfunction (EED).
