Undergraduate Research Scheme

The Undergraduate Research scheme offers students a unique opportunity to get involved in a research project, gaining invaluable professional experience, and developing research skills. The scheme is open to all Undergraduate students within the Faculty, with a broad range of research projects available in various different schools and disciplines.

At Undergraduate level, many students will not have established skills and experiences in research. For those interested in pursuing a career in academia, or progressing to postgraduate study, the opportunity to develop these skills and experiences early is hugely beneficial. The Undergraduate Research Scheme was created to provide students with this experience and skills development at an early stage in their academic life.

The Scheme offers dual benefit to both students and staff within our Faculty. Students are afforded a unique opportunity to gain vital experience as part of a senior research project or initiative, while staff gain access to support for their project helping to more effectively realise their goals and produce results.

URS VIDEO

The URS has been a very positive experience for my project. The capacity to support three URS students has allowed me to give invaluable supervisory experience to the two Liverpool-based postdoctoral research fellows working on my project. The URS students have helped us to think through some of the practical and conceptual problems around data collation and data entry for our project and, of course, all three students have made very meaningful contributions to the research itself.
