Summary
I am a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Central Asian History (Brill) and of the advisory board of a new book series at Edinburgh University Press, Encounters in the Middle East and Asia.
I served as president of the European Society for Central Asian Studies (ESCAS) between 2017 and 2019.
I have reviewed articles for the following journals: Central Asian Survey, Cahiers du Monde Russe, Acta Slavica Japonica, Journal of Economic and Social History of the Orient, the Russian Review, World Development, Soviet and Post-Soviet Studies, Contemporary European History, and Arcadia. In addition, I served as a manuscript book reviewer for I.B. Tauris (now Bloomsbury).
I have served as an anonymous reviewer for research project submitted to ERC and to the Kazakhstani Ministry of Education and Science.
