Celebrities launch range of scarves to support Alder Hey
Celebrities including Sarah Jessica Parker, Justin Bieber, Kylie Minogue and Helen Mirren have launched a range of scarves at Matalan to support new facilities at Alder Hey.
The initiative will help fund the construction of Alder Hey’s new hospital as well as its new research and education centre which is a joint initiative involving our University, Edge Hill University, Liverpool John Moores University and Alder Hey.
Just under £15M has already been secured to support the second stage of the new £25M centre which is due to open in summer 2015, alongside the new hospital.
The University and Alder Hey have successfully worked together for nearly 50 years at our Institute of Child Health, which addresses research in areas such as sepsis, bronchiolitis and asthma.
The new research and education facility will allow researchers to develop safer, better medicines for children to use in the NHS and throughout the world. It will also help give children in the North West greater access to emerging life-saving technologies and provide facilities that will attract outstanding researchers to Liverpool.
