The Student Fund exists to ensure that students of every background can come to Liverpool and make the most of their time here – so they can go out into the world and make a difference. From providing emergency grants in times of unexpected financial hardship to bursaries and scholarships that ensure income doesn’t affect opportunity, your support is changing lives.

Anjum is a third-year PhD student and scholarship recipient. She shares a letter of thanks to all who have contributed to the Student Fund.

"Over the past two years, I've had the privilege of connecting with some of you as a student caller, and today, I want to thank you on behalf of all students who have been touched by your generosity.

I am thankful for the doors you have opened and the countless opportunities they've afforded me. Beyond the academic realm, your support serves as a beacon, inspiring me to give back to the community and contribute positively to society. After graduation, my aspirations extend to continuing research into childhood diseases and practice as a surgeon. Your belief in students' potential, especially someone like me, is the driving force behind this ambitious journey.

I am the first woman in my distant family to not only complete a master's degree but also embark on a PhD journey. The challenges posed by the disruptions caused by COVID-19 left me uncertain about recovering and continuing with my studies. Fortunately, thanks to you, I was awarded a scholarship and today, I'm on the path to completing my research study.

Once again, thank you for being an indispensable part of my journey at Liverpool. Your generosity transforms dreams into realities and I am profoundly grateful for your support."
