Hear from a recipient of the Asylum Seekers Scholarship

Thanks to the support of our donors the University of Liverpool is pleased to offer tuition fee and maintenance support for undergraduate students who have sought protection in the UK, so they can succeed in higher education. The scholarships, supported by the Student Fund, cover the cost of tuition and provide support towards the costs of study.

Hear from a recipient of the Asylum Seekers Scholarship, who, thanks to your support, has been able to achieve their aspirations:

Dear Donor,

I am honoured to be a recipient of the 2019/2020 Asylum Seekers Bursary at the University of Liverpool and I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your continued support to students who need it most.

As a migrant, navigating the educational process was difficult, and I thought studying at a university level was an impossible accomplishment. However, it was through your generosity and support that my aspirations have been realised.

I can say that I officially graduated from the University of Liverpool with a First-Class Honours Degree in LLB Law with Politics. I will forever be indebted to this scholarship and anyone who participated in this generosity. Thank you so much! I also would like to give a special thanks to the incredible woman I have met, Deonne Hill, Widening Participation Manager. I am so blessed to have the immense support and knowledge of Deonne, who supported me from the beginning despite my ups and downs. I shall be forever grateful for her support.

I am also honoured and pleased to receive once again this scholarship to continue my postgraduate education to study International Human Rights Law LLM at the University of Liverpool this year. This will set me one step closer to working in the human rights field and bring a difference in this world.

The scholarship has opened a door and the prospect of a brighter future and will play a key role in shaping me into a successful person in future. Donors like you make life brighter for us and I can only hope that one day, I too will be in a position to bring a smile to another needy student.

I cannot express my gratitude enough, and I want you to know that your generous support will see me achieve my dreams.
