The COVID-19 Student Crisis Support Fund was launched as part of the wider COVID-19 Emergency Response Campaign in response to the increasing challenges being faced by our students in the wake of coronavirus. Since the launch, more than 100 alumni and friends have come together to help provide this vital support to students who are in most need. We spoke to alumnus, Ziad Alfaddagh (MBA Business Administration, 2018), who shared what inspired him to support this campaign.

Ziad lives in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and graduated in 2018. Reflecting on his experience of studying at Liverpool he said “it was very challenging and exciting. Throughout the four years it took me to complete the program, I have experienced the challenges to cater for studying while meeting my obligations towards work and family. But, at the end, I did it with pride.” Ziad works at Saudi Aramco, in various responsibilities such as Capital Projects, Business Continuity and Risk Management.

Ziad is a first time donor to the University. When asked about what inspired him to give he said “as alumnus of the University, I do feel strongly with all students and faculty and what obstacles they might face as an impact from COVID-19. But more importantly, I do believe the more we all do to face the consequences of this virus, and by coordinating efforts and supporting fellow students in times of great need, we will surely prevail.”

He added “there is a deep sense of belonging to this establishment. Also, from a more appealing motivation from the perspective of global diversity where graduates come from different cultures, supporting such a campaign in any way possible, no matter how small a contribution, will go a long way in helping fellow students in need. This will feed global diversity, which we all are obligated to in our lives.”

We are extremely grateful for Ziad’s support. The generosity of our global community will help to ensure that every student at Liverpool can reach their full potential.
